This survey was carried out by the Association of Supermarkets of the State of Rio (ASSERJ), which was listening to more than 400 consumers during two weekends, in four different supermarkets in the River. Of the total number of respondents, 41.6% answered that they receive some benefit from the federal government, and the main one was the Auxílio Brasil.
According to the benefit calendar for the month of August, payments began on the 9th, ending on the 22nd. It is worth noting that the value of the Auxílio Brasil received an increase of R$ 200.00, valid until December of this year. The amount of R$ 110 was also deposited with respect to the Vale Gás benefit, which is received by more of 5 million people out of the 20.3 million who are part of the receipt of the Brazil Aid this month in question.
The increase in the amount of Auxílio Brasil was very noticed by Luciana Ferreira, 30 years old, but it was not the enough for her to help with the basic needs of herself and her three children, aged 5, 7 and 11 years. With the values of Vale Gás and Auxílio Brasil added together, totaling R$ 710.00, she, who lives in Belford Roxo, had to spend most of it only on food.
However, the gas used by the family ran out sooner than expected, and she also had to borrow part of the value to be able to buy another one. “I only bought a little meat, before we could only pay for the carcass, which is cheaper. I also bought some yogurt and some biscuits for the children, beans and rice, where before I could only buy little by little, 1kg by 1kg, with the money I had on hand”, she reported.
