Meaning of the acronym M&M's: after all, what is the explanation?

The brand's chocolates can easily be called the most popular in the world. The production of these extremely famous sweets began in the United States in 1941. They are currently sold in over a hundred countries around the globe, so it's very easy to access them.

Although many people have long speculated that the name refers to that "mmm" we do when we eat something tasty, in reality, the acronym refers to the initials “Mars and Murrie” of the founders of brand. Yeah, not very exciting, is it? But things are what they are.

Their full name is Forest Edward Mars and Bruce Murrie.

The two were not related, but were business partners. A few years after the launch of the brand, Mars bought Murrie's share and started to run the company's business alone.

The Success of M&M's in World War II

There is a story that the origin of M&M's was because Mars saw some Spanish soldiers eating chocolates that melted in their hands because of the heat. From that, he began to think about how to make the food resist a certain temperature. As a result, they created the first M&M's design in 1941.

After that release, it didn't take long for the candy to become the military's new favorite. Americans who participated in the Second World War, since the merchant Mars even reached his goal. The sweets endured long journeys in good condition, even in the most varied climates.

M&M's in Brazil

Chocolates have been manufactured in Brazil since 2006, did you know? A production should start in Recife (PE), but currently the factory is located in Guararema, a municipality in the interior of São Paulo. It's the same one that produces Twix and Snickers. It has a constructed area of ​​more than 50,000 square meters, from which one billion – on average – of confectionery per month comes out.
