To reduce the environmental impact of defective products, eBay launched an Imperfects category of sellers, in London last week, which sells several designer brands with more subtle manufacturing defects at discounts big ones.
Following the results of studies that revealed consumers' concern with sustainability, eBay employees looked at a huge opportunity to help reduce the number of items shipped to garbage. In addition to also transforming this novelty into a brand expansion strategy.
The platform has partnered with 100 brands to supply the market with damaged items. Puma, Fila and Timberland are among the most affordable brands on the list, as are Off-White and Saint Laurent, representing the most luxurious brands.
According to eBay, the available items may have flaws, such as a small scratch or mark, a missing button, or a broken wire, but it's still worth it. Despite being minor details, the brands follow strict quality standards and do not sell items in these conditions.
In a press release, Jemma Tadd, eBay UK's head of fashion, reaffirmed the long-term viability of the initiative. We are providing a platform for slightly damaged items to be given a second chance and sold despite their flaws.
In addition to discounts of up to 60%, clothing and accessories for sale will include a list of all defects and photos showing the exact condition of the items. Imperfect Purchases also include free shipping and a 30-day return policy with a full money-back guarantee.
