Currently, there are several ways to exercise dogs. Thus, you can put together a routine of physical practices that go far beyond the basic walk with the pet. That's because walks may not be enough for dogs. Check out some options below:
Agility
This activity basically consists of making the dog run, as quickly as possible, a circuit with obstacles, such as ramps, tunnels and cones.
In addition, the Agility tests are done by the pet with its tutor or instructor, who guides it throughout the circuit. So it's a fun practice for both the animal and the tutor.
Swimming
Swimming generates a high energy expenditure in the body of animals. Thus, it is widely used in the physical therapy treatment of obesity, orthopedic or respiratory problems.
Canicross
This practice is a type of race that can also be done alongside tutors. However, it is a slightly more intense activity and requires greater caution. In it, tutor and dog are linked by an elastic cord, and the dog is dressed in a traction vest.
For this exercise, in addition to needing the necessary equipment, it is essential that the dog is familiar with some basic direction commands (left or right).
flyball
The last option on the list is Flyball, the third most popular canine sport in the world. As in Agility, the practice consists of the dog overcoming a series of obstacles behind the ball. At the end of the circuit, the pet must pick up the ball, go all the way back and deliver it to the tutor.
