A recent survey by the International Stress Management Association – ISMA-BR presents a worrying panorama about the burnout syndrome in Brazil. According to the institution, the country is the second in the world with the highest number of cases of the syndrome, second only to Japan. The researchers believe that this is a reflection of working conditions in the country.
After all, burnout occurs in the context of work and is a reflection of the stress that workers go through in their routine at work. For example, long hours of work, unhealthy conditions, excessive charging and excessive demand can cause the syndrome. Not to mention the difficulty in reconciling personal life with routine at work.
Still according to the ISMA-BR, about 30% of Brazilian workers have symptoms of burnout or have already developed the severe version of the condition. For the specialists, the way to overcome this problem must be precisely through the guarantee of labor rights and respect for the limits of the worker.
Burnout syndrome can present different symptoms for each type of person. However, the most common are severe headaches, depression, gastrointestinal problems, anxiety and panic attacks. In more serious cases, the person may be unable to perform their work and need to be removed.
As for the treatment, it should be reported how there is still difficulty in caring for people with the syndrome. This is because the improvement comes effectively only with the change in working conditions. Thus, it is recommended that people undergo psychotherapy, consult a psychiatrist for possible use of medication, but also look for good jobs.
