In addition to Rio Grande do Sul, states such as Goiás, Minas Gerais, Acre, Paraná and Piauí, have already started to issue the new identification model. And the states that haven't issued the document yet will only have until March to start issuing the new model.
As of January 2023, the CIN will begin to be issued in the states of: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Amazonas and the Federal District. This new document model will have only the CPF as the only number, thus ceasing to use the RG. These changes to the RG started in July 2022.
What is the validity period of the CIN?
The validity period of the CIN will vary according to the age of the citizen. If the person is up to 11 years old, the duration will be five years, for people between 12 and 59 years old, the validity period will be ten years. And for those over 60, the document will be valid indefinitely.
For more up-to-date information on the CPF, you can do this for free on the Federal Revenue website. If it is necessary to send some documentation, the Ministry of Economy has made available a list created according to the required situations.
What is the change of this new RG?
In addition to having only the CPF as an identification number, this new model of the document will have a QR Code, which will be able to be read by electronic devices. The goal is to find out if the document was lost or stolen.
It will also facilitate entry into Mercosur countries, as it can be used on international trips. And this is due to the fact that it contains the international standard code, the MRZ, which is used in passports.
