Understand what is a kidney stone

Kidney stones, or as more popularly known, kidney stones, are the result of the accumulation of calcium phosphate and carbon salts that form small solid pieces in that organ. Thus, although many people do not know it, it is possible to find different sizes of kidney stones, being some even not so harmful to health, and that, when identified early, can normally pass through the urine.

However, according to experts, when the stone is thicker than 5 millimeters, it can end up blocking the ureter and causing harm to the body. That way, it's important to know some signs that may indicate that you have kidney stones. Check out the most common ones.

1. urine color

The first step to start suspecting that something might be wrong with the functioning of your kidneys is to analyze the color of your urine. When our body is working correctly, it usually has a yellowish tone. Thus, it is worth noting that the more water consumed, the clearer the urine becomes, as it is being diluted by the more constant release.

In this sense, the presence of blood or a darker color can indicate the presence of blood in the urine. While this can be due to bacterial infections, this sign can also indicate kidney stones.

2. Pain when urinating

The time to urinate cannot be painful or burning. So, feeling any discomfort when peeing may be an indication that you have kidney stones. This is because the stones resulting from the accumulation of mineral salts are present in the kidneys, which ends up causing deep pain when urinating.

3. change in smell

Although the change in the usual smell of urine can also be associated with drastic changes in diet, it is important seek a doctor if you notice this change, especially if it is accompanied by other symptoms presented in this article.
