The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) will start paying the so-called 14th salary to retirees and pensioners. This is the news that many policyholders have been waiting for, since this benefit has been suffering delays in its release due to budget blockages and lack of political support.

In addition, the release of the 14th INSS salary to eligible beneficiaries is in Bill 4367/20. Authored by deputy Pompeo de Mattos (PDT-RS), the document was initially made in 2020, right at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, the proposal has been pending.
On trial at the Finance and Taxation Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, the proposition dealing with the 14th salary finally gained a date and payment amount, with dimensioning of tax legislation.
In this sense, the release of the 14th INSS salary, which was initially scheduled for the years 2020 and 2021, was established as follows:
The proposal provided for in law defined a maximum ceiling to be paid for the 14th salary. According to an amendment to the text, it will be limited to up to two minimum wages, which currently corresponds to R$ 2,424. Those who receive payroll benefits above this amount will also be restricted to this amount.
However, it is worth mentioning that, despite the definitions of the proposal, the chances of payment of the benefit occurring in March are minimal, considering that the project is still in progress and needs to go through the last committee of the Chamber, by the plenary of the Federal Senate and end its course with the sanction of the president.
