Currently, it is already possible to pay the toll through Pix on the state highways of Mato Grosso and Espírito Santo. In addition, the City Council of Rio de Janeiro created a project with the aim of making the resource available on municipal roads.
The project created in Rio is authored by councilor Felipe Michel (PP) and aims to update the law regarding the collection toll booths on the Yellow Line and the Presidente Tancredo Neves Corridor, which connects the neighborhoods of Curicica and Realengo.
In this sense, the proposal foresees that the tolls on these roads accept payments via Pix, prepaid cards and NFC, as well as approximation of credit or debit cards. The text has already been approved by the city council, however Mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) still needs to sanction the project.
The Linha Amarela and Transolímpica concessionaires instituted payment through debit and credit cards in 2021, after the approval of a project that gave rise to Law nº 7004.
There are more ways to pay the toll these days than most people realize. In this sense, in addition to the traditional cash payment, it is possible to use credit and debit cards and even toll tags.
The term TAG refers to a very simple and practical type of technology, which works through a device that is on the windshield of the car. In this way, an electronic payment system is activated when the vehicle passes through the toll booth.
You just need to get in touch with a company, hire the service, which can be through pre-paid or post-paid plans, and request the TAG to be sent. However, be aware that installing the device requires care and removing it may make it impossible to use it again.
