In recent years, the country has faced serious economic problems, largely due to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. Faced with this scenario, the Government created a series of financial support programs for the population, such as Vale-Gás, the Brazil Aid and even Driver Assistance.
Still on this path, the Federal Government released R$ 13 billion to carry out loans for MEIs. It is a partnership between the public and private sectors that drew a lot of attention due to the low interest rates.

The funds for opening this line of credit will come from Banco do Brasil's Operations Guarantee Fund. These are resources from the Federal Government, which has already started making payments to start the project. Furthermore, the public sector will count on the help of the private sector in this endeavor through a new partnership.
Consequently, the citizen who is an Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI) will be able to take out the loan at the bank of his choice. In this case, participants in this partnership are Caixa Econômica Federal, Banco do Brasil, Bradesco, Santander and Itaú. Through these institutions, it will be possible to apply for loans. Furthermore, it was agreed that in the collaboration, the public sector would keep 20% of what was collected, while each bank would keep 80% of the total amount.
Certainly one of the major impediments for citizens to take out a loan is the interest rate, which is usually high. However, in this case, as the objective is to help Individual Microentrepreneurs, the Government established that the rate will remain at 2%. However, the basic rate, called Selic, will also be added to the interest rate, which in current values is 13.25% per annum.
In addition, it is expected that the procedures for requesting and approving these loans do not involve a lot of bureaucracy. Thus, the expectation is that thousands of Brazilians will be able to participate in this new program and invest in their businesses.
