Special INSS retirement: what it is and who can apply

What is Special Retirement?

This is an exclusive benefit for workers who carried out work activity with exposure to some harmful agent, permanently and at high levels.

Who is entitled to special retirement?

Since 2019, there is a default setting regarding the minimum age of those insured by the INSS, according to age and contribution time. See below how this happens;

Low-risk activities: 25 years of contribution + Minimum age of 60 years

• Airway;
• Airway Service Runway;
• Nursing Assistant;

• Auxiliaries or General Services who work in unhealthy conditions;
• Dentist
• Surgeon;
• Graphic Cutter;
• Nurse;
• Chemical and mining engineers;

Medium risk activity: 20 years of contribution + Minimum age of 58 years

• White Phosphorus Extractor;
• Mercury Extractor;
• Ink Manufacturer;
• Lead Melter;
• Lead Laminator;
• Lead Moulder;
• Worker in Tunnel or Flooded Gallery;
• Permanent workers in underground locations, away from work fronts;
• Explosive Charger;
• Fire Officer.

High-risk activity: 15 years of contribution + Minimum age of 55 years

• Crusher;
• Rock loader;
• Miners underground;
• Underground rock crusher operator;
• Rock Drill in Caves.

How to apply for special retirement?

To request this benefit, just schedule a time to start the process. This part can be done online in a few steps, check out:

• Enter the website My INSS or in the application of the same name;
• Select, in the left corner, “Agendamentos/Requirements”;
• Click on “New application” and select the RETIREMENT FOR CONTRIBUTION TIME benefit.
• After that, attach the following documents: Social Security Professional Profile (PPP), LTCAT, Work Card, identity, proof of residence.
