How to remove smoke odor from home

Anyone who has lived with constant smoke spots knows that getting rid of that distinctive smell can be difficult. In this case, the first thought that comes to mind is to pick up perfumes and fresheners. Unfortunately, such products will only mask the problem. So, to fully remove the smell, you'll need to attack it at the source. See how below.

air your house

One of the best things you can do to remove the smell of smoke is to open the windows and make the room cool and airy. That way, the air currents will, by themselves, do all the work. But to make the process faster, follow the step by step:

  • First, the recommended thing is to place one or more fans in front of your larger windows, so that it pulls the smoke from the environment and directs it towards the exit.
  • After that, leave the windows open for at least a whole day.
  • Another tip is to move furniture and upholstery that has been exposed to smoke outside, if possible.

Such actions can quickly facilitate the removal of any remaining smoke. Exercising these tips more often may be enough to get rid of small smells.

Remove odors from the air

During winter, opening the windows may not be feasible. In addition, the smoke odor of some substances can become impregnated in the air. So your next step is to make an air freshener.

To do this, set aside several small bowls and fill them with activated charcoal, coffee, baking soda or white vinegar. These materials will absorb odors from the air. Remember to replace the bowls whenever necessary or every 15 days.
