According to the Brazilian Traffic Code, under article 165, it is forbidden to drive under the influence of alcohol or another psychoactive substance that causes addiction. In this way, the transgression is framed as very serious.
In addition to the suspension of the CNH, drivers were fined and their vehicles seized. Therefore, they will have exactly 30 days, from the date of publication, to file an appeal with the Administrative Board of Infraction Appeals, through the Detran-DF Protocol.
Through the National Driver's License Registry (Renach), drivers will have their penalties fixed and kept on record. Furthermore, if the driver does not take the refresher course, or fails the same, the CNH restriction will be maintained.
As stated earlier, this is a very serious offense. As for the amount of the fine, something important to highlight is its high value: R$ 2,934.70, due to the incidence of the 10 times multiplier factor. If there is a recurrence of the same infraction, within a period of one year, the amount of the fine for drunkenness will be doubled, totaling R$ 5,869.40.
Having said that, remember the phrase “if you drink, don't drive”? Well, the high values and the suspension of the driver's license are just a few details given the damage that a drunken traffic accident can cause.
