Today is Tango Day! The date is a tribute to Carlos Gardel, the greatest tango singer in history. He was born in France on December 11, 1890, and immigrated with his mother to Argentina at the age of three. Gardel was known for the sensual way in which he interpreted the tango. He composed several famous tangos, such as “Mi Buenos Aires Querido”. He died on June 24, 1935, in a plane crash in Medellin, Colombia. The date has been celebrated in Argentina since 1977.
