Pantanal Day

Francisco Anselmo de Barros, known as Francelmo, was an environmentalist who dedicated his life to the fight for the preservation of the Pantanal. On November 12, 2005, in an extreme protest against the threats that the biome was facing, Francelmo set fire to his own body and ended up dying as a result. In his honor, the date became known as Pantanal Day.
