The transmission of nerve messages between the cat's eyes, muscles and joints happens very quickly and makes it very balanced. When the cat falls, the eyes and vestibule of its ear send a message to the brain about the position of the head in relation to the ground. The brain responds with nerve commands to the muscles, which correct the head posture and align the animal's body. This all happens in fractions of a second and the cat hits the ground with its feet down.
