The goal is to make drivers and pedestrians aware of the dangers in traffic with the aim of reducing accidents on the roads. With this, the government is committed to improving signaling, duplicating highways, improving traffic and investing in traffic engineering in the states. Success is expected this year. The Yellow May campaign was motivated by the UN, which on May 11, 2011 decreed the Decade of Action for Road Safety. Thus, throughout the world, this month the campaign for lives in traffic is carried out.
The color yellow was chosen with the aim of symbolizing the warning in traffic. In this way, we seek to draw attention to the number of deaths and violence in traffic around the world.
Thus, the movement is an action of the public power and civil society, aiming to put the agenda on safety in traffic, moving all responsible public bodies and individuals and legal entities to fight for cause.
Here in Brazil, the campaign has a lot of support from public bodies. This year, for example, it brings some news. Among them, encouraging the positive side, that is, working on a way to congratulate that citizen who did not have any traffic violations throughout the year.
With that, the idea is to offer discounts on IPVA and vehicle insurance for those who followed all traffic rules. Another measure taken by the government is a change in the Driver's License.
From the 1st of June, the wallets will have new colors. The provisional licenses will be marked with the letter P, and the definitive ones, with the letter D. These are measures that seem small, but that can make all the difference in many people's lives.
