Last Friday, the 31st, the president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva sanctioned the law that allows the exchange of breast implants. The law contemplates women who were cancer patients, being able to exchange the implant whenever there is any effect contrary to what was expected.
There are many reports of women who are not suitable for breast implants, needing to have surgery to remove them so that their health is protected. This is an issue that has been discussed and little by little is gaining evidence, as many women suffer from health problems in this regard.

In the case of patients who had breast cancer and, in turn, needed to undergo breast reconstruction, the case of rejection of the prosthesis may also occur. Now, the new law n° 14,538 will allow a new surgery whenever necessary.
Within 90 days, therefore, after the approval of the law that allows the exchange, these cancer patients will have the right guaranteed by law to perform implant replacement surgery whenever indicated doctor.
The new implant exchange measure is valid for both the public and the private sector. In the case of the SUS (Sistema Único de Saúde), the terms established based on the change in legislation guarantee the replacement of the breast implant within a period of up to 30 days when there is a medical indication.
Not only the replacement of the implant was contemplated, since the support psychological it is also one of the guidelines for cancer patients. The law indicates that these women need to be welcomed from the moment of diagnosis until the moment after the oncological treatment.
As of last Friday, the 31st, counting 90 consecutive days, the law will be valid throughout the national territory.
