The biggest wave ever recorded occurred at Lutuya Bay, off Alaska's south coast, in 1958. Having reached 520 meters in height, the phenomenon was the result of an earthquake measuring 8.3 on the Richter scale, which destroyed a huge glacier located on the coast of the bay. When the debris fell into the water, the gigantic wave formed and invaded part of the coast. Its size was estimated based on the marking the water left in the upper parts of the continent.
