In May 2018, a report published by Jornal da Band showed growth rates for distance learning courses in Brazil. Using data from a study carried out by the Brazilian Association of Higher Education Supporters (ABMES), the article noted that the number of courses in the modality more than doubled in about a year.
In addition to the commercial sites specialized in distance learning, users have access to the quality offer promoted by Brazilian federal universities. Through virtual platforms, institutions provide a wide range of options, including languages, Physics and IT for Basic Education.

Currently, three universities have distance specialization courses open to registrations, in addition to the participants of the Languages without Borders Program, an initiative of the Ministry of Education. Check out the available opportunities and register now!
Headquartered in the city of Cruz das Almas, in Bahia, UFRB offers free open courses without the obligation to enter the entrance exam, in addition to degrees and specializations. The institution also has units in other towns in the Recôncavo region, such as Amargosa, Cachoeira, Feira de Santana, Santo Amaro and Santo Antônio de Jesus.

The Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) has a partnership with the Open University of Brazil and offers several options for distance learning courses. All of them are free and are aimed at those who already have training in the areas. Currently, the following modules are in progress:

The Fluminense Federal University (UFF) offers more than 370 classes, totally free, taught in the distance modality. The student accesses the content through the Video Classes Portal, an extension action coordinated by a professor from the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the institution.
The content is divided into different categories and made available in videos. Among the options found by the user are:
LANGUAGE WITHOUT BORDERS PROGRAM
The program is an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MEC) in conjunction with the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). Students, technicians and professors from federal universities throughout Brazil have access to courses in German, Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian and English on an online platform.
