Those who need to return the aid are those who were not within the rules for receiving it at the time of request or no longer had the right while receiving it and even so continued to to receive. This may have been due to false information at the time of the request or a maintenance or revision error.
The refund will only be charged to people who have per capita income greater than half a minimum wage or monthly family income greater than three minimum wages.
If the government identifies the error with the aid, the beneficiary will receive a notification by email, SMS, through the bank, by post, in person or by public notice. And after being notified, payment must be made by issuing a Collection Guide, which can be paid in cash or in 60 installments. However, the minimum installment must be R$ 50.00 and can be paid at any bank.
The beneficiary who does not agree with the charge can contest it within 30 days after receiving the notification on the website of the Ministry of Citizenship. And if the appeal is denied and the beneficiary does not make the payment, the government will make an extrajudicial charge, which, if not paid, will be forwarded to Serasa.
To be considered in default, the beneficiary will have to ignore the payment for 60 days after the notification, without having even requested installment or defense of the refund.
The charge should cost R$ 21.8 million to the public coffers until 2024.
