Baguera was younger, but no less serious. When she hunted, she moved unobtrusively, with elegance and speed. She never lost her balance. When she slept, she always had one eye open. When she spoke, she chose her words well. And she never, never laughed.
One day, Baguera was walking on the branch of a mango tree suspended over a river. There was a very ripe mango at the end of the branch, and she loved mangoes. But when the panther approached the tip of the branch, it hunched over in a worrying way. Baguera's pride would never allow her to end up in the river unplanned.
Crouching on the branch, Baguera had just come up with a brilliant idea when she heard someone clear their throat.
“Looks like a little hand would be welcome,” said a large grizzly bear.
“No thanks,” Baguera replied politely. – I prefer to work alone. But the bear had climbed the tree anyway.
“Listen to me,” he whispered. - I'll sit here and grab your tail. You can fetch the sleeve, and I'll be holding you in case the branch breaks. Then we can split the sleeve!
“No, I don't think that's a good idea,” said Baguera impatiently. – I doubt this branch will hold, both of us…
Crack! The bear had ignored Baguera and climbed onto the branch. And the branch, of course, broke under their weight. So a soggy and angry panther was sitting next to a soggy, amusing bear.
– Oh, ha-ha-ha! laughed Balu. – Oh! Who would say! What an adventure! Oh! Come on,” she said, seeing Baguera's irritation. – It's not the end of the world, you know?
Then Balu lifted the broken branch, the sleeve neatly attached to the end of it.
“I'm going to propose something to you,” added the bear. – How about we go to the top of the cliff and dry ourselves in the sun eating this mango? My name is Balu. And you, what's your name?
“Baguera,” said the panther as they climbed the hot, flat boulder.
Then, almost against his will, she smiled. And Balu laughed with her.
