You know that nowadays, people over 18 are required to vote, don't you? And anyone aged 16 to 18 and over 70 has an optional vote. But it was not always so.
The first registered election in Brazil was in 1532, at the São Vicente City Council. At that time, only white men who had money, land or participated in military life voted.
From 1824 onwards, voting became mandatory. But only men over 25 years old, literate and with a determined income voted. In 1932, it was women's turn to conquer this right.
