When a pan is greasy, what do we do to clean it? Washing with water alone does not work. We need to use a detergent or soap. Detergent is very effective in this type of cleaning because it binds to both water and oil. This way, he can mix the oil in the water, removing the grease and cleaning our dishes!
But where does this mixture go after cleaning? If it doesn't go to a water treatment plant, it goes directly to the rivers. Yes, your kitchen detergent can cause serious damage to nature. When in contact with water, it forms a foam that blocks the oxygen that fish and other animals use to breathe! But is it possible to clean the pan without harming the environment? The solution is to use a detergent that is biodegradable.
Biodegradable substances are those that bacteria and micro-organisms are able to eat and thus decompose. After the work done by the microorganisms, the molecules that make up the biodegradable detergent do not pose a danger to nature, they are no longer toxic and no longer foam.
To protect the environment, it is very important to check that the detergent – as well as the soap and even the shampoo you use – is biodegradable! Know that products like this are less polluting and do not cost more for it.
