And since we are home to great natural wealth, nothing fairer than having the largest freshwater aquarium in the world, right? Bioparque Pantanal is approximately 6 months old and is located in Campo Grande, capital of the Mato Grosso do Sul.
The site is currently managed by the municipal government and has already received around one hundred thousand visitors from all Brazilian states, in addition to more than one thousand foreigners from 46 different countries. A real success right at the start of its operations!
The structure has 19 thousand square meters, 2,215 tons of steel and capacity for an incredible five million liters of water. Engineer Saulo Carvalho Siqueira explained that the use of steel was the only way to make the shape chosen for the design possible.
“Other aspects that led to the choice of this constructive method were the questions of structural weight and mechanical resistance, mainly in relation to the wind tunnel – a reliable tool for determining the effects of wind loads on civil construction structures”, explained Saul.
The site has 33 tanks, but 23 are internal, eight external and there is one more for supply and another for disposal. They are home to around 220 Neotropical species divided into 151 from the Pantanal, 55 from the Amazon, 14 from Africa and others from regions such as Central America, Asia and Oceania.
The aquarium's scenography is also a spectacle in itself, as it has fauna and flora harmonizations that were created by the plastic artist Roberto Alves Gallo.
The Bioparque is considered the largest freshwater aquarium in the world and is a Brazilian heritage, in which we have several natural beauties that must be increasingly recognized and valued, as they are part of our wealth. It is worth mentioning once again that visits to the site are free.
Therefore, this can be an extremely fun program that will also promote a lot of knowledge for both children and adults who attend there. Get to know the structure and all the most beautiful things the place can offer. Visit the Pantanal Biopark and count on an unforgettable experience.
