ideal environment

Iguanas need a controlled environment to keep their metabolism working properly. Thus, the ideal is to reproduce its natural equatorial habitat and for that we must acquire a terrarium and three main items:

  • A “thermo-hydro automatic controller” is required. With it we will set exactly the temperature and humidity of the terrarium to meet the needs of the animal. Humidity should be around 80% and temperature at 30°C;
  • A specific UVA and UVB emission lamp to simulate the sun and bring quality of life to your environment;
  • Putting vegetation is important to set the terrarium and, above all, invest in dry branches for it to hang and play with throughout the day.

Food

You also have to be very careful with their food, but with the popularity of iguanas as pets, the food industry is already taking care of making food for them.

In this way, it is already possible to find specific feed for iguanas in petshops and feed stores. In addition, it is worth noting that they are vegetarians, so no offering insects to them.

Hygiene

One of the advantages of having an iguana is that this pet does not need a lot of care: just wash the water bowl and feeder once. a day, its terrarium once a week and it is advisable to take this animal once a year to the veterinarian, just for a review.
