On the 14th and 15th of July, there were protests and strikes promoted by the trade union movement against the dismissals of Banco Itaú in the country. In addition, the group fought against changes in the Vehicle and Payroll areas, which could also result in layoffs.
Faced with this movement and subsequent negotiations, Itaú ended up committing itself not to make new dismissals until August 31, which is when the Collective Labor Convention (CCT) comes into force end. The only exceptions to this commitment are dismissals for just cause, recommendations from the inspectorate and situations that had previously been agreed upon.

The decision was taken after a meeting that took place on the 22nd with the bank's HR management, where the Union demanded that layoffs be suspended until the CCT was renewed. In addition, they asked for more time for workers to be able to relocate, before changes in the vehicle and payroll sector.
On the 25th, a new meeting was held, and the bank committed not to dismiss any more employees until the 31st, but in September a new meeting will be held.
“The dialogue between the Union and Itaú is extremely important, and it is a victory for the union movement that dismissals are suspended during the negotiation period for the 2022 National Campaign for Bank Employees.”, said Itaú’s union and bank leader, Sergio Francis.
In view of this, the Union is alerting bank employees about updated information and is also monitoring workplaces. They ask that in cases where the bank is not complying with the agreement, contact them via WhatsApp or the Union's service channels.
