The change in the document was designed to bring more modernity and security to citizens. In this sense, electronic validation, for example, occurs through the unique and transferable QR Code in each RG.
In addition, the new document will include data such as RG number, CPF, if the person is an organ donor, blood type, other health data. All this in order to bring agility, modernity and security to the individual.
The changes do not stop there, in addition to those mentioned above, the new RG will contain information from other documents, such as the MRZ code, which is the same displayed in passports. Therefore, with the single RG it will be possible for the citizen to travel without having to carry the passport, only the RG.
First, you must look for the responsible issuing body in your state and present the birth certificate or the marriage certificate. The information validation process will be done through the official Government portal (Gov. BR) to ensure that the new document is unique and non-transferable.
After that, you should be aware of the deadline given by the issuing body to withdraw the paper document. Thus, only after having the printed version in hand can the citizen access the digital version. To do this, just enter the official government application (gov.br), add the data and you will see the desired option.
According to official information, for people between 12 and 59 years old, the validity period of the document will be 10 years. For children up to 11 years old, the term is 5 years and for people over 60, the validity is indefinitely.
In addition, national institutes will have until March 2023 to fully adapt to the changes in the new document.
