In a WhatsApp update, the application has granted permission for its users to share their location in real time, making other contacts know where you are.

However, to track WhatsApp, you need to make sure that the application on your device (iPhone or Android) has the setting that allows the mobile device to be located by GPS signal able.

Today, the app allows you to share your location in three time options:

• 15 minutes tracking;
• 1 hour tracking;
• Or tracking for a period followed by 8 hours.

Tracking a person through WhatsApp on any device

The Android operating system, for example, makes it possible for you to provide your location in real time using the WhatsApp messaging option. We'll show you step by step how to share your location with any contact you want, using any device.

• To access the sharing feature, you need to click the “paperclip” icon (Android) or the “+” icon (iOS) in the keyboard message box. After that, select “Location”;
• Then choose the “Real-time location” option and press “Continue” in the resource preview window that will appear;
• Once that's done, you can set the sharing time you want (as mentioned above);
• In this way, the location will be displayed in the chat in the form of a square message, with the option to open the map that is displayed. To open the map, just click on the text that says “View location in real time” and you're done;
• In addition, you can end sharing at any time you decide or when the timer runs out.

Use this procedure whenever you want to use real-time location to find out where your friends or family are. The positioning tool is completely voluntary, and it is up to the contact to decide whether or not to enable data sharing via GPS.
