How does the loan for MEI work?

When registering as a MEI, you will have a National Register of Legal Entities (CPNJ), which is a number to identify your company. Thus, the document is useful for applying for loans from financial institutions.

Meanwhile, for banks to release credit, your MEI profile needs to undergo an analysis through CPNJ. Although each entity has its own criteria for conducting the process, some points are common.

Among them are the evaluation of the entrepreneur's history, irregularities in the Individual Taxpayer Registration (CPF) and the existence of financial debts. But if everything is up to date, the loan is released and the MEI can easily take advantage of having a CNPJ.

The value offered by banks for micro-entrepreneurs is a maximum of 20 thousand reais, but the amount varies according to the company's turnover. To apply for the loan, just collect your personal documents and those of the company and go to one of the banks that offer the credit.

Banks that offer credit for MEI

  • Bank of Brazil: BB helps MEI to improve the company's cash flow. Thus, the bank offers the option of paying the credit in up to 18 installments.
  • National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES): The BNDES makes loans available to MEIs who wish to invest in raw materials, equipment and other work items.
  • Bradesco: Bradesco also offers a loan, but with one condition, as MEI revenues must be up to 360 thousand reais per year.
  • Caixa Econômica Federal: Caixa provides lines of credit for MEI, but it is necessary for the entrepreneur to have an account at the bank in question.
  • Itaú: Finally, there is Itaú, which also offers special lines of credit for MEIs.
