The aid granted by the Federal Government to families in social vulnerability covers millions of people, being the main initiative against extreme poverty. At first, the project was presented with an initial ticket of only R$ 224.00, but at the beginning of March of this year, the Senate approved the MP guaranteeing a permanent base of R$ 400.00 for the program.
This week, a proposal to change the current program was presented to Congress. Senator Fernando Bezerra Coelho (MDB-PE), rapporteur for the project, proposed an increase of R$ 200.00 in the benefit installments. Vale-Gás also undergoes changes, so that the value offered this semester, of R$ 51.00, is expected to increase to R$ 120.00.
The news is good for the Brazilian people, who even used firewood to prepare their meals this year. However, the amendment proposals require the Government to study a new source of funds to fund the readjustment, which should reach R$ 30 billion.
It is worth remembering that the readjustment to R$ 600.00 is not intended to include new beneficiaries, and the payment priority will be for those who are already part of the program. Furthermore, it is estimated that around 2.8 million vulnerable families are waiting in line to be covered. Interested parties can still apply through CadÚnico.
