According to Fernando Bezerra (MDB-PE), the approved text does not go beyond legal limits, since it acts on an emergency basis: “The text collected the main concerns, so that we could respect the country's legal mandate, but being able to act in an emergency, as required by the situation we are facing", said the rapporteur.
In fact, there is a great deal of fear on the part of the Federal Government in relation to strikes that could be caused by truck drivers, which could further impact the value of basic products. As a result, more than 800,000 of these workers will be able to receive payments if they follow certain requirements established by the Senate.
First of all, truck drivers are required to be self-employed. Therefore, the professional cannot have an employment relationship with any transport company or the State itself. In addition, through the National Transport Agency (ANTT), you must have your name registered in the National Registry of Road Cargo Transport in the category of Autonomous Cargo Carrier.
If you meet these requirements, the driver will undergo a careful analysis by the Ministry of Citizenship, where you will be able to follow the progress of the process. Still, it is not necessary to register, like other government aid programs.
In the PEC, Fernando Bezerra also included an excerpt that guarantees aid for taxi drivers, a category that was also deeply affected by the rise in fuel prices. As a result, the measure will cost the public coffers BRL 2 billion.
