Penguins are non-flying birds belonging to the family Spheniscidae. Very social, usually walk together and swim in a group. They live an average of 15 to 20 years. The largest penguin species is the emperor (
Aptenodytes forsteri). Found in Antarctica, it measures just over a meter in height and weighs between 27 and 41 kilos. […] The smallest is the blue penguin (Eudyptula minor), which lives in Australia and New Zealand, measures 40 centimeters and weighs about a kilogram. While all penguin species are native to the southern hemisphere, not all of them live in the polar climate, contrary to what many people believe. It is true that the greatest diversity of penguins is actually found in Antarctica, but some species live in temperate and even tropical regions, such as the Galapagos Islands.
The Magellan penguin, for example, lives in milder climates and, in winter, especially from June to September, it usually appears here on our beaches. This species lives in the Falkland Islands and along the coast of Patagonia, from Argentina to Chile. Younger and weaker individuals, when entering stronger sea currents, may not be able to return and end up landing on the Brazilian coast.
Fidelity is a striking feature among penguin couples. In general, they _________ only one partner during the reproductive period. […] Divorce rarely happens and, when it does, it is usually due to reproductive problems or when one of the partners does not properly care for their offspring.
