A contest had been held in the clearing in the middle of the woods. Of all the participants, the one who sang the best would win a valuable prize. Before starting the presentations, everyone already knew the name of the winner.
"The nightingale will win the prize." He sings very well! said the sheep, who was also thinking of entering the contest.
- It is true. Their trills are so melodious! exclaimed a little dog with poetic leanings.
The contest was about to start. The expectation was enormous. The nightingale would be one of the first to introduce itself. That's when a deer approached the candidates, very sad, asking:
— Please, nightingale! I beg you, come to my house. My son is dying. If he hears your wonderful singing, maybe he'll be cured.
Without a moment's hesitation, the nightingale renounced certain victory and complied with his afflicted father. They say that listening to the sublime song of the nightingale, the little deer was cured in an instant.
