The Nutcracker

It's Christmas Eve. Marie is enchanted, of all those present, by a doll-shaped nutcracker. She accommodates her new friend in the toy closet - but at midnight she hears strange noises. Terrified, she sees her godfather, the inventor Drosselmeier, eerily crouched over the wall clock, and an army of mice storming the room, commanded by a seven-headed king! Against them, the toys come out of the closet and put into formation. They have a great battle ahead, under the orders of the Nutcracker…

Between dream and reality, Marie will live wonderful and strange stories, of kingdoms, spells and delights. Stories in which the unusual godfather has a special role, and in which only those who have their eyes and heart prepared can embark. You have?

This edition includes the two variants of the story: the original version of E.T.A. Hoffmann and Alexandre Dumas' classic – which popularized the story and inspired Tchaikovsky's famous ballet –, translated by André Telles (from French) and Luís S. Krausz (from German). It also features a presentation by researcher and specialist in fairy tales Priscila Mana Vaz and more than 200 period illustrations. […]
