Did you know that this yellowish, sticky, shiny thing we have in our ears is also called earwax? That's right: CE-RU-ME! It can even be disgusting, but it is like a shield that protects our ear and a very thin film that is essential for us to hear sounds, the eardrum. In addition, the wax can prevent the proliferation of fungi and bacteria and also the accumulation of dirt. Did you just see the important role wax plays?
Now I ask you: how do you clean your ear? Clean inside or out? Do you use cotton swabs, cloth or finger to remove the wax?
Ear specialists, otolaryngologists, phew… do not recommend that we completely remove the wax from inside. Don't worry, the wax tends to fall out of the ear on its own. Also, poking the inside can hurt the eardrum and prevent excess wax from being naturally flushed out. But hey, if the wax is bothering you, tell an adult.
Ah, I'm going to tell you a curiosity: in Brazil, we use an ear instead of an ear to talk about the entire hearing organ, that is, both from the outside that we can see and from the inside.
