A Google employee died after jumping from the penultimate floor of the New York big tech building last Thursday, 4. He has not yet been identified. However, according to information from the North American press, he worked as an engineer in the company.

According to information published by the Daily Mail website, the engineer was taken to a hospital. However, he was pronounced dead at the health facility.
Upon investigation, police found the man's fingerprints on the 14th floor and also on the roof of the building.
However, the corporation did not find any note or farewell note from the engineer.
This employee's death came two months after the death of another Google employee.
Jacob Pratt was just 33 years old and also worked at the technology company's New York headquarters. He was found dead in his apartment. Police also suspect suicide in this case.
The young man had been a leading partner of the company since May 2019, as published on his Linkedin account.
The North American press also highlighted the fact that the two deaths happened after the passageway (a term used to talk about mass layoff) by Google. Big tech is estimated to have laid off around 12,000 people so far.
Other big techs such as Amazon, Microsoft, Twitter and Goal, also had similar situations. According to the website Layoffs.fyi, about 650 technology companies have made mass layoffs. Approximately 190,000 people were left without a job in 2023 alone.
However, in both the unidentified youth's and Jacob Pratt's deaths, police have not come to a conclusion as to the motive. That's because it wasn't clear if they were overloaded at work or if they suffered some kind of threat.
Google has yet to comment on the employee's death.
