Since its launch in 2007, the iPhone has quickly gained a following and has become a global phenomenon, with Apple selling more than 1.2 billion units.
However, not all launches were commercially successful. Some specific versions of the iPhone, despite the renowned brand and quality, simply failed to win over the public.
According to information provided by the statistics and research platform, Statista, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus have won the title of sales champions in the history of the device. Since launching in 2014, these models have resulted in an impressive 222 million units sold in total.
In second place in the ranking is the iPhone 11, with approximately 140 million devices sold. In third place in the ranking of iPhones, are the 7 and 7 Plus, with around 128 million units sold.
Such models represented a milestone for Apple, being the first to be designed as waterproof, which added value and versatility to the device.

iphone 5c
Launched in 2013, it was an attempt by Apple to offer consumers a more affordable option, however, it was not successful in captivating the public.
This model received criticism mainly due to its plastic design, which was perceived as less premium compared to aluminum models released around the same time. They sold only 30 million of the device.
iphone 12 mini
In 2020, Apple launched the iPhone 12 Mini, offering a compact design and a long-lasting battery, which pleased some consumers who were looking for a lighter, easier-to-handle device.
On the other hand, the high price of the device and the lack of support for 5G were aspects that received negative reviews. 40 million copies were sold.
iPhone XR
The model was launched in 2018 and achieved an apprehensive increase in sales, mainly due to its modern design.
Its acceptance was driven by several attractive factors, such as modern design, high performance and the possibility to choose from several color options.
However, the iPhone XR also faced some criticism. One of the points that generated debates was Apple's decision to equip the device with a lower resolution LCD screen compared to the OLED screens used in other premium models. 50 million units were sold.
iphone 8
Launched in 2017 by Apple, it was a long-awaited model for fans of the brand. However, the device ended up facing some criticism for its design, which was very similar to the iPhone 7, and for the lack of significant innovations compared to previous models. Approximately 60 million copies were sold.
iphone 8 plus
A bigger and better version of the iPhone 8 that even received praise for its enlarged screen and the dual camera system, with advanced photographic features.
While such improvements have been welcomed by some consumers, the iPhone 8 Plus also faced criticism. One of the main points of concern was the high price of the device, which made it less affordable for some users compared to previous models. 80 million copies of this device were sold.
