According to the official document, the senator's main reason is because the change made it difficult "the geographical identification of the vehicles”, which could hinder the work of traffic authorities during the inspection and identification of vehicles in circulation.
“The ostensible information of the place of registration of the vehicle is very important for the transit and public safety authorities to be able to identify easily determine the origin of a vehicle in situations such as traffic violations, robberies, thefts and other crimes related to the vehicle”, says the text of the PL.
For Esperidião Amin, it is essential that the change takes place so that irregular cars are also prevented from circulating on public roads.
Regarding the cultural role of the plaque with the city and state, the justification given was that the old model had the function of demonstrating belonging to a Brazilian city, as well as pride and strengthening of identity regional.
Likewise, the PL states that identification with city and state would be an easier way for locals to identify vehicles belonging to people from other regions. Another reason is to generate statistics to determine the circulation of visitors traveling through tourist cities.
At this time, the change is not yet mandatory and needs to be passed to become law, but, according to some opinions, the proposal may generate doubts and delays in the vehicle registration process throughout the national territory.
