Electricity social tariff

According to the Neoenergy, currently more than 2.9 million families are covered by the social electricity tariff, which was regulated by Law No. 14,203, with the aim of benefiting low-income families. In this sense, the energy tariff discount can reach up to 65%, and for indigenous people and quilombolas it can be up to 100%.

Who has the right?

  • Families enrolled in the Single Registry (CadÚnico) with a per capita monthly income less than or equal to half the minimum wage or with a monthly income of up to three minimum wages, provided there is someone in the family with an illness that requires the continuous use of electrical equipment, and families with an elderly or disabled beneficiary of the Continuous Provision Benefit (BPC).
  • Families whose electricity consumption ranges from 101 kWh to 220 kWh have a 10% discount on the tariff. Those that consume from 31 kWh to 100 kWh/month have a 40% reduction, and if consumption is up to 30 kilowatts/hour, the discount is 65%.
  • Indigenous people and quilombolas, in turn, receive greater discounts. If consumption is up to 101 kWh to 220 kWh/month, the discount is 10%, and if it is from 51 kWh/month onwards, 40%. For families that consume up to 50 kWh/month, the discount is 100%.

Register

The social electricity tariff is granted automatically. However, if you are entitled and are not receiving the benefit, you can go to the concessionaire responsible for the distribution of energy in your state to request the discount.

Just inform the NIS number and the concessionaire will confirm the information in the federal government database. After that, the deadline for inclusion in the social tariff is five working days, so the customer will already have the benefit from the next invoice.
