The resource only works with commands in English, and for that you need to type “set timer for x minutes”. Upon pressing Enter, the countdown begins. You can also start a stopwatch in the same widget, and still activate it by Google Assistant voice command.
In addition to the timer, Google also has other tools that help users by giving more practicality, such as calculator, dictionary, currency quotation tool, timer sticky notes. However, along with the timer, these tools disappeared at the beginning of the month.
However, unlike the first appeal, these other tools did not work again. According to Google, such functions disappeared with the sole purpose of fixing problems, and not because the platform lost interest in the tools. The Search Engine Roundtable has already identified the issues, and has verified that they are still unresolved. But, according to Danny Sullivan, the platform is already working on analyzing these so that they can be resolved soon.
The feature was created in 2013, and although there are other ways to use the timer on computers and cell phones, many users find it simpler to use Google search. The tools are still under analysis, but it seems that the problem is quite big, because after about a month there is still no solution.
The other Google resources are working normally, and just wait for this analysis to end to have the practicality of these tools back. Meanwhile, it is possible to use the same tools in the device's own applications.
