In addition, Pedro Guimarães, president of Caixa Econômica Federal, disclosed that the amounts could vary from R$ 600 to R$ 3 thousand, an issue that will depend on the amount of installments that the beneficiary received between April and August 2020. As a result, over 800,000 parents were covered.
All single parents who have been vetoed the double head of household allowance are entitled to receive up to R$3,000 retroactively. Such a benefit had been barred by the president, who released it exclusively for single mothers who are heads of household.
However, the Planalto Palace announced in a note that “with the publication of the MP, the Brazilian State reiterates its efforts to guarantee the regular provision of services and programs aimed at the population in general, especially the most vulnerable, giving public bodies and agents access to instruments capable of mitigating the harmful effects of the pandemic on society Brazilian".
However, it is worth mentioning that the measure is addressed only to the first five installments of Emergency Aid paid in 2020. As a result, the four extension installments of BRL 300, paid from September to December 2020, and the seven installments paid in 2021 will not have retroactive payments.
To find out if you are entitled to retroactive payment of the benefit, visit the Emergency Aid consultation website of the Ministry of Citizenship. The payment refers to Law 14.171, of June 10, 2021. This guarantees double the value of the benefit for single-parent families, regardless of the gender of the head of the household.
