The expectation is that the delivery time of products will be reduced by 80%, especially for customers in the North and Northeast regions. Delivery time is currently 7 or 8 days, but should drop to two days, according to Fernando Yunes, senior vice president at Mercado Livre.
Gol aircraft will be transformed into cargo planes, making greater investment in the segment. Thus, they will change from the Boeing 737-800NG model to the B737-800BCF, specific for cargo. Deliveries previously reached a number of 10 million per year, but through this partnership, they could reach a number of 40 million, according to Gol at a press conference.
“We are making the company's debut in the operation of cargo planes through Gollog, forming a new model of businesses of great relevance to the logistics and cargo sector in Brazil, with operations dedicated to the transport of loads. Very few companies in the world work with this model. This partnership with Mercado Livre is a source of pride for all of us”, said Gol's president, Paulo Kakinoff.
The first three aircraft that will undergo the transformation process will enter into operation in June 2022. The forecast is that, throughout 2023, the rest of the aircraft will make up the delivery service.
Júlio Perotti, executive director of Gollog, admitted that the partnership increases the quality of Brazilian e-commerce. “With the partnership, GolLog increases by 80% the tons transported and the range of services, with revenue incremental amount of BRL 100 million in the first year and around BRL 1 billion in the next five years of operation”, said the executive.
