For those eagerly awaiting the cash, unfortunately, there is still a long way to go before final approval is reached. However, as this is an election year, it is possible that the process will speed up.
The project has already been accepted by three committees in the Chamber, but still needs to go through a process of analysis and approval by the Chamber of Deputies. In addition, other segments need to grant their approval.
Therefore, if they are accepted by all, they will be sent to the Senate for approval. Thus, if the senators release it, without any objections, the project goes on so that the president can then sign it.
The bill being discussed in the Chamber provides for the payment of two 14th salaries, for the years 2020 and 2021. The idea is that the benefit for 2020 will be paid in March 2022, and last year's in March 2023. Of course, these dates are assumptions, as everything depends on how the project will unfold in the hands of the responsible sectors.
If accepted, beneficiaries who receive up to two minimum wages for retirement, death pension, accident allowance, prison allowance and sickness allowance will be contemplated. It should be noted that the 14th salary it will not be permanent, it will only cover the two emergency years (2020 and 2021) and will have the objective of combating the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus.
