Greek mythology is one of the richest and most interesting of mankind. That's because for the Greeks everything had a greater meaning. In this way, as there was no scientific explanation for several events, they blamed their beings and mythological figures.

Mythological beings were non-human creatures. The beings possessed supernatural powers, as well as being able to interact with humans whenever they wanted. mermaids

The famous Greek mermaids may be a little different from those we know from Disney. That's because the mermaids of Greek mythology were sensual and dangerous beings. They lured men to the sea with their seductive song.

They were represented as half woman, half fish. However, sometimes they were portrayed with wings and a woman's bust.

nymphs

Nymphs were female characters who enchanted with their beauty and had the task of taking care of the forests and fields where they lived. They had the power of healing and prophecy.

Chimera

They were hybrid beings. Therefore, they could be a combination of two or more animals. They were known as beasts that could breathe fire through their nostrils.

centaurs

Like chimeras, they are hybrid beings. However, they have half the body of a man and the other half of a horse.

demigods

Legends say that from time to time the Gods descended from Olympus to Earth to relate to humans. From these relationships came children with mortals. They had powers, but unlike the gods, they were still mortal.

satyrs

Satyrs are part of the hybrid group in Greek mythology. They were beings that from the waist up had the body of a man with horns. From the waist down they looked like goats.

Gorgons

They were women who had serpents on their heads instead of hair. Furthermore, everyone who looked directly at them would be turned to stone. One of the most famous is Medusa.

newt

From the waist up, the being had the body of a man. However, from the waist down he had the body of a fish. He also wielded a trident and inhabited the oceans.

Cyclops

The beings were giants. Also, they only had one eye in the middle of their foreheads.

Cerberus

The being had the simple function of guarding the gates of hell. According to mythology, Cerberus was a monstrous dog with three heads. As a protector, he attacked and killed anyone who ventured near the doors of the underworld.
