Permanent support for single mothers

Bill No. 2099/20 is pending in the Chamber of Deputies to decide whether an aid of R$ 1200.00 can be provided for single mothers, unemployed and who need to support their children on their own own.

The decision for this proposal was due to the financial crisis that arose during the new coronavirus pandemic, where many people lost their jobs.

In addition, schools and kindergartens closed, and mothers found themselves in a lonely scenario, having to take care of their children fully and at the same time maintain a home without the support of the child's father.

Who is entitled to permanent assistance

To access the benefit, you must meet certain requirements. The woman must be at least 18 years old, be the head of a single family, have at least one child or dependent who is not over the age of majority, the permissible income capita needs to be up to half a minimum wage or total income of up to three minimum wages, cannot have a formal job or receive assistance social security.

Apparently, Caixa Econômica Federal will be the public bank responsible for making transfers to mothers benefiting from the aid.

When do payments start?

Although the project was approved by the Commission on Women's Rights, it still needs to pass through several other instances. Some examples are Justice and Citizenship, Social Security and Finance and Taxation. After approval by all these committees, the proposal will go to the Senate and then to presidential approval.

Because of this, the project is not yet complete and the source of financial resources has not been defined either. Therefore, an official schedule has not yet been established.
