As inflation affects gas prices, the government has created a scheme to help vulnerable households buy gas cylinders. This benefit, called Gas Allowance, aims to guarantee an amount equal to 50% of the national average price of a 13kg LPG cylinder. In January, each family received R$52.00, but last month the amount was reduced and the installments now amount to R$50.00.

Currently, the scheme includes the 5.58 million households registered in CadÚnico. However, as the federal government added, the program will still include new households approved for each new payment.
Along these lines, it is expected that gas vouchers will be available to all beneficiaries of the Auxílio Brasil, which currently serves around 18 million households, by September 2023.
Furthermore, it is good to point out that this government program is paid together with the Auxílio Brasil payroll – another government program.
Therefore, the schedule established for this program has deposits for a different group each day of the week. Only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays the payment does not occur. Thus, last month's last payment took place on February 25th for NIS ending in 0.
Although the government has not defined the rules for this expansion or if it will actually exist, the Senator Jean Paul Prates (PT/RN) proposed in a project in the Chamber to include 11 million families in this program.
However, the proposal is still under analysis in Congress and has not been voted on. Meanwhile, Vale Gás beneficiaries, so far, are limited to around 5 million.
Therefore, even if an individual meets the requirements to receive assistance, he or she may be excluded due to lack of program resources.
The benefit can be passed on to people who meet the following requirements: have an income equal to or less than the minimum wage, be registered in the CadÚnico (register of government social programs) and families that have at least one person who receives the Benefit of Continued Provision (BPC).
