Arts Lesson Plan

The student will be able to create a painting using textures, at least three different sizes and shapes and a variety of colors.

THEME: Paintings through different shapes

YEAR: Kindergarten to Elementary School 2

GOALS:

• Students will be able to create paintings using different materials. This exercise stimulates creativity and helps to fix the name of geometric shapes.

MATERIAL REQUIRED:

• Different objects with different shapes and sizes: Square (milk box, block), round (coin, eraser), triangle (Toblerone candy box), etc;
• Papers of different colors;
• Paints of different colors;
• Surface to deposit paints;
• Old newspapers or paper towels.

INTRODUCTION:

Explain to the students that they are going to make paintings using different colors and geometric shapes. Place all items on the table, including paints and objects of different shapes.

DEVELOPMENT:

1. Give each student colored paper (let them choose which color they want) and a tray with different colors
2. Instruct him to dip one of the objects in the ink and press it onto the paper, tell him he should use many different colors, shapes and positions.
3. It is important to make it clear that they must clean the form and only then put the new color, this way it will make the color more vivid on the paper. However, leave it free to stamp an object with two different colors.

ADAPTATION:

This activity can be adapted for a math class or a vocabulary lesson. You can teach about shapes from geometry or create a lesson where you teach shape names, colors and types of sizes.
