A dispersion of seeds is a very important mechanism for plants to expand their habitats and colonize new environments and avoid the competition for resources among many equal individuals in the same area.
In this class about seed dispersal carried out by animals Students will be able to know some ways of distributing seeds so that plants can colonize new areas.

THEME: Seed dispersion carried out by animals
SUGGESTED TIME: 1 class
GOALS:
MATERIAL REQUIRED:
DEVELOPMENT:
Read the title of the lesson with the class and ask if anyone knows the word “dispersion”. Listen to all responses and write them on the board. Remember to always direct
the guesses for the topic of the lesson.Explain to students the meaning of dispersion, show images so that they understand that it is the act of carrying something to different locations.
Remind students what seeds are, talk about the germination to form a new plant.
Ask the class if anyone knows how animals are involved in this process. Listen to the answers and, based on them, explain the relationship between plants and animals.
show pictures of animals consuming fruits containing seeds and from animals carrying seeds.
Explain to students that animals are responsible for carrying many seeds away from the mother plant, facilitating the dispersion of that species throughout the environment, since it can germinate elsewhere and give rise to a new plant.
Talk about ways of dispersal through animals, whether eating the fruit and defecating the undigested seeds elsewhere, either carrying them away through the flight, that is, for food scraps or for trade and transport carried out by humans.
At this point, remind students that we are also part of the animal group.
Separate the trays with the seeds and utensils and make groups in the class. Ask the students to imagine themselves as the dispersers of those seeds and, one at a time, exchange between the groups using the utensils, and never the hands themselves.
After the experience, observe that each type of seed had to be taken in a different way because of its size and shape. Therefore, it takes several different animals to disperse different seeds.
As a homework assignment, provide a list of exercises on seed dispersal.
ASSESSMENT:
The evaluation of this class can be done through participation in the classroom and the completion of homework.
