With the end of BuzzFeed News comes a millennial-centric form of journalism, driven by social media. The decision has been praised by former collaborators, including Charlie Warzel, who believes it spells the end of the internet era of the 2010s.

In addition to the closure, there was a 15% cut in the staff. According to the American press, the company's Chief Executive, Jonah Peretti, sent a memo to the team this Thursday (20).

He believes the platform's downfall was a result of the toxicity of Facebook feeds, the platform's decision to labeling news as poison and the discontinuation of links to websites by Facebook, Twitter and other networks social.
